Participants examined several major market structure developments across Asian equity markets, with discussion focused on India’s Closing Auction implementation, Korean market-hour extensions and the continued expansion of US overnight trading activity within Asia.

Participants highlighted a recurring disconnect between regulatory ambition and operational readiness. While reforms are broadly intended to improve market efficiency, accessibility and liquidity formation, firms continue to face substantial uncertainty around implementation detail and operational workflows.

The session also examined the rapid growth of US overnight trading within Asia and highlighted growing complexity around best execution obligations, liquidity fragmentation and price discovery.
