HM Treasury meets members
HM Treasury meets EQ and FIC
members on key regulatory and
market structure challenges.
Following the success of our July London network reception, when HM Treasury’s
Alex Christie formed part of a distinguished panel discussion that included the
European Commission and other regulators, HM Treasury requested more extensive
dialogue with our members, to better understand the challenges ahead.
Consequently in September, we invited a select number of Equity & FIC members who
were at the sharp end of trading for two interactive discussions with HMT.
Senior figures from HM Treasury’s primary and secondary markets policy teams explained
their structure, how they work and objectives and heard from Q15 members on real trading
issues they face within a changing regulatory and market structure environment,
flagging key areas they would like HMT to be focusing on.
This proved to be a valuable discussion for all and is likely to mark the first of a number of
follow up discussions in 2020.
POSITIONING
Quorum 15 is independent and self-financed. Neither a lobbying body nor industry association, we bring leaders together in frank discussion to identify areas of consensus that can be fed back into their respective associations. Frankness is encouraged through our policy of operating under the Chatham House Rule. Fairness is ensured by our Competition Law policy which prohibits any discussion that could be considered in any way to be anti-competitive.ADVISORY BOARD
To ensure the agendas at each of our quorum’s only focus on what is most important to our members, an advisory board comprised of both buy and sell-side members has been established in each quorum location. In the run-up to every event that we run, three or four key topics are identified, put to the vote and from there the primary and secondary topics are determined – along with any guest speakers.Latest News
